The Hidalgo County Office of Emergency Management, in conjunction with the Sheriff's Office, has launched the "Prepared Not Scared" initiative to bring preparedness training to the residents of rural Hidalgo County.
Both agencies are committed to working closely with rural residents through various community outreach projects along with partners such as ARISE, LUPE, and Proyecto Azteca. The first training is set for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20. At the Precinct 2 Community Resource Center located at 509 E. Earling Road in San Juan.
Participants will be introduced to basic information on personal and family preparedness. Individuals will also be introduced to response priorities and strategies for working together with family members and neighbors to ensure preparedness at various levels.
Training will be divided into five different classes:
? Census: How will Hidalgo County benefit?
? The Importance of 911
? Fire Plans and Prevention
? Crime Prevention

Hidalgo County offices will be closed Thursday, November 28, 2019 and Friday, November 29, 2019 in observance of the Thanksgiving Day holiday. We will resume normal business hours on Monday, December 2, 2019.
