All Hazards Conference

All-Hazards Conference to take place March 28-29

Health and Human Services Chief Administrator Eduardo "Eddie" Olivarez requested approval to receive funds from the Department of State Health Services in the amount of $85,000.00 for the annual All-Hazards Conference.

Nearly 50 years ago, in September 1967, Hurricane Beulah made land fall in the Rio Grande Valley causing devastating flooding that impacted our region for decades. Since that time, Hidalgo County and its regional partners have made great strides in emergency preparedness by working together and sharing resources. As technology improves and advances, Hidalgo County and surrounding agencies continue to train and educate themselves in order to be prepared for any future disaster.

The 2018 South Texas All Hazards Conference will provide a forum to advance the hurricane preparedness capacity for the Rio Grande Valley, discuss current trends and topics, and provide information about the latest tools and technology in emergency management and homeland security.
