Bishop Flores announces big census push

Bishop Daniel E. Flores is urging parishioners to complete their 2020 Census form.

Flores held a news conference at the Basilica in San Juan on Wednesday to announce the census outreach the Diocese of Brownsville will be doing between now and the Sept. 30 deadline.

“We want to get the word out about how important this is for the (Rio Grande) Valley,” Flores said. 

Hidalgo County reports 127 new coronavirus cases and 21 more deaths, including a male in his 20's

Hidalgo County reported on Thursday 21 more deaths due to coronavirus complications, as well as 127 additional cases — bringing the total number of fatalities in the county to 1,355 and the total of confirmed coronavirus cases to 29,209.

Valley congressman announces mobile coronavirus testing sites in 15th District of Texas

Congressman Vicente Gonzalez announced Thursday the locations of mobile COVID-19 testing sites in Hidalgo, Brooks and Duval Counties in the 15th District of Texas. Sites will conduct swab testing.

Coronavirus Cases May Be Declining, But Valley Health Experts Warn Against Complacency

Despite occasional spikes, public health officials in the Valley say the number of people becoming infected with the coronavirus and the number of patients being hospitalized have, overall, been trending down. But Hidalgo County’s health authority, Dr. Ivan Melendez, tells 710 KURV the number of people dying from COVID-19 remains high:
