Hidalgo County reports 16 more coronavirus-related deaths, 161 new cases

Hidalgo County reported on Tuesday 16 more deaths due to coronavirus complications, as well as 161 additional cases — bringing the total number of fatalities in the county to 1,311 and the total of confirmed coronavirus cases to 28,893.

Of the total number of people who tested positive in the Hidalgo County since the beginning of the pandemic, 25,442 have been released from isolation. According to the news release, there are currently 2,140 known active cases in Hidalgo County.


COVID-19 claims the lives of 16 more people in Hidalgo County, 45 new cases in Starr County reported

The counties of Starr and Hidalgo reported a combined 206 new COVID-19 cases with Hidalgo County reporting an additional 16 deaths from the disease.

161 of those new cases came from Hidalgo County bringing the total number of people who have knowingly contracted the disease in Hidalgo County to 28,893 with 2,140 of those cases marked as active.

DHR Health preparing for potential spike in COVID-19 cases

DHR Health is preparing for a potential spike in COVID-19 cases after Labor Day weekend. 

Dr. Robert Martinez, the chief physician executive at DHR Health said their team is cautiously optimistic following the Labor Day weekend, but they won’t know the impact of this holiday for another three to six weeks.

 Just in time for Flu season, doctors and patients can save a little time by taking a 3-in-1 test that can test for three respiratory viruses.

The 3-in-1 test introduced by LabCorp can determine if you have COVID-19, Influenza A or B, or the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV).
