Cortez to Elon Musk: Consider moving Tesla to Hidalgo Co.

Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez has written a letter to Tesla co-founder, CEO and Product Architect Elon Musk following his threat to pull his company’s factory and headquarters out of Fremont, California.

In the letter addressed to Musk, Cortez stated that Hidalgo County is available to immediately accommodate Tesla Motors.

Hidalgo County announced five more people have tested positive for the coronavirus, bringing its total number of confirmed cases to 394.

The new patients include two Pharr residents, a McAllen woman in her 20s, an Alton woman in her 30s and an Edinburg man in his 30s.

Elon Musk threatening to move his Tesla headquarters from California to a state with fewer social distancing rules. This caught the attention of Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez in a letter on Monday.

Tesla Motors could create 7,000 jobs in the Valley, economists say

Elon Musk, Tesla Motor’s CEO, threatened to move operations from California to either Texas or Nevada as stay-at-home orders remain in place through the end of May.

In a letter, Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez, is offering Musk to relocate to the Valley stating it’s the perfect place for the manufacture as we are situated between Mexico and the U.S.
