McAllen MSA will suffer least job losses among major Texas metro areas

Of the seven major metropolitan regions in Texas, the McAllen-Edinburg-Mission MSA will suffer the least number job losses from the current economic downturn.

This is the view of The Perryman Group, a leading economic forecasting group based in Waco, Texas. 

The group has just released a new study titled: The Economic Outlook for Texas’ Major Metro Areas: Projected Recession and Recovery from COVID-19, April 2020. 

Hidalgo County surpasses 3,000 COVID-19 tests; reports 7 new cases

Hidalgo County announced Tuesday night that the total number of positive coronavirus cases has grown to 275 with seven new cases identified Tuesday.

The new cases are in Edinburg and include two people in their 20s and someone in their 30s.

Governor Greg Abbot announced Tuesday, Texas is on the path of re-opening and heading back to work.

Drive-thru COVID-19 testing coming to Delta region

Delta area residents will soon have a new option for obtaining COVID-19 testing once a drive-thru site opens up in Elsa on Monday.

The new site is the result of collaboration between the cities of Elsa, Edcouch, La Villa, Hidalgo County Precinct 1, and the testing company.

2 Additional Coronavirus Testing Sites To Open In The RGV

Two more coronavirus testing sites are opening in the Rio Grande Valley – one in the Delta and a second location in the Mid Valley. The UT-RGV School of Medicine is leading the effort to open the Mid Valley site – this one in Mercedes.

The coronavirus testing facility in Elsa will be at Mario Leal Park. It will operate through a partnership with the cities of Edcouch and La Villa, Monte Alto ISD, Hidalgo County Precinct 1, and Emergency Diagnostic Solutions which will be conducting the tests. To be tested, you must first consult with your doctor and obtain a referral. The Elsa drive-thru site will open next Monday.
