Texas UpdateGovernor Greg Abbott's Office of Economic Development and Tourism (EDT) launched the Governor's Small Business Webinar Series to provide Texas small business owners and entrepreneurs with timely, relevant, and actionable information on COVID-19 recovery resources. The first webinar, specifically tailored to Central Texas, was attended by over 3,000 Texans. The Webinar Series takes the place of the Governor's Small Business Series events that were postponed due to COVID-19.
RGV UpdateMore than $300 billion in stimulus money is set aside for small businesses impacted by the coronavirus pandemic has run out. Congressman Vicente Gonzalez addressed the number of business owners seeking federal help, saying there is still hope. The Small Business Administration announced it will no longer be accepting new applications for the Paycheck Protection Program or the Economic Injury Disaster Loan. To help those who are having trouble coping with isolation with current circumstances caused by the global pandemic, Rio Grande City hosted a virtual mental health summit Wednesday, offering tips and resources to deal with that newfound stress. “When we are stressed, there are other feelings and emotions that come along with that — low tolerance, we become easily annoyed, we can become frustrated to the point of possibly even anger, our behaviors change,” Compean said, “so we, as adults, need to be more cognizant of our own behaviors so that our behaviors don’t trickle down and then change the behaviors of our children.”
