Commissioners Court recognized The McAllen All-Stars 8U Softball Team for becoming the reigning 2013 Pony Slow Pitch World Series Champions on July 26, 2013.
Coached by Andew Munoz, Joe and Shawna Behlke and Juan Elizondo, the team of 13 girls ranging in ages from 7 to 8 years old, spent countless hours training for the journey to the World Series Tournament.
From various cities in Hidalgo County, the McAllen All Star Team includes, Autumn Faith Behlke, Daijzia Nevaeh Deleon, Jennaka Joslynn Fabela, Hannah Aissa Garcia, Jadah Astrid Garza, Ivory Marie Gutierrez, Luz Maria Martinez, Anahi Elizabeth Munoz, Giuliana Ornelas, Mia Isabella Ortiz, Alexis Skye Ramirez, Isela Daniele Rodriguez and Kaitlyn Briana Soliz.
The 2013 Pony Slow Pitch World Series Tournament was held in White Settlement, Texas, and during the four day tournament the team played seven games and defeated eight opponents to win the title of 2013 Pony Slow Pitch World Series Champions.
The Pony organization instilled a new tradition and retired the jersey of a player from the winning team and this year that player was short-stop Autumn Faith Behlke. Her #8 jersey now hangs in the Pony Hall of Fame in Washington, Pennsylvania.
