The Hidalgo County Emergency Management Team is hosting its second Hazardous Mitigation Meeting on Friday, August 2, 2013 from 10 am to 12 pm at the Old Administration Building.
The meeting is being held to present and take feedback from the public on the Hidalgo County Risk and Vulnerability Analysis, as well as the Hidalgo County Mitigation Strategy. The purpose of HMAP is to reduce disaster impacts to communities and increase eligibility for post disaster funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The Hidalgo County Risk and Vulnerability Analysis will provide an understanding of the natural and technological hazards faced in the county, as well as providing a vulnerability assessment of the county’s capabilities. The Hidalgo County Mitigation Strategy provides the goals and projects that Hidalgo County will pursue to strengthen its infrastructure against the impact of disaster.
