Hidalgo County Commissioners Court recognized the 92nd District Court Judge's office and the Hidalgo County Community Supervision and Corrections Department with a resolution declaring May 2013 as National Drug Court Month. The Hidalgo County Drug Court program began in 2004 and for the past nine years it has restored lives, reunited families and made the community safer. The mission of the program is to break the cycle of drug addiction, reduce offender contact with the criminal justice system and introduce offenders to the recovery process. The success of the program is attributed to the support provided by the drug court team, including Hon. Judge Ricardo Rodriguez, 92nd District Court Judge; Faustino Lopez, Supervisor; Victoria Beltran, John Silva and Daniel Martinez, Supervision Officers; and Adriana Solis, Counselor.
Judge Rodriguez addressed the court, thanking them for their continued support of the program. He also presented the latest review of the Drug Court program by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice-Community Justice Assistance Division. The board examined each case to ensure the program was operating in accordance with all applicable guidelines. Based on the results, the Hidalgo County Drug Court Program was found to be 93%-100% in compliance of all objectives reviewed.
