[ARCHIVED] Go Blue for Victims of Child Abuse

go blue1.jpg

In 1989, the Blue Ribbon Campaign to Prevent Child Abuse had its early beginnings as a Virginia grandmother’s tribute to her grandson who died as a result of abuse. She tied a blue ribbon to the antenna of her car in commemoration of him and to alert her community about the tragedy of child abuse. The Blue Ribbon Campaign has since expanded across the county, and many wear blue ribbons each April in memory of those who have died as a result of child abuse.
• In recent years our country has been losing over 1,500 children to child abuse, annually.
• Almost 50% of these fatalities were children younger than one year of age.
Donations made through our office will help all children at Estrella’s House, a local non-profit organization that assists child abuse victims.
For further information on how to contribute, please contact the Hidalgo County Clerk’s Office at 956-318-2100.
Thank you for your contributions to this important cause.
If you have a child abuse case to report in Texas, call the Department of Family and Protective Services at (800) 252-5400.
