Commissioners' Court approved a resolution honoring pageant hopefuls Iyslah Flores and Isabella Ortiz. The girls, ages 7 and 5respectively, are set to compete in the Universal Royalty Pageant in Austin, Texas on February 16, 2013. The Hidalgo County natives are strangers to competition. Iyslah was crowned as the 62nd Annual Princess Anna during the 2012 Texas Citrus Festival and Isabella is a member of Missy's Modeling Agency; both girls are part of the Valley Cheer Elite cheerleading squad as well. Pct. 3 Commissioner Joe Flores, who is the girls' proud grandfather, praised their efforts and wished them good luck at this weekend's competition. Iyslah addressed the court, thanking them for the recognition and said she hopes she can take home the crown. Iyslah and Isabella were joined by their extended family including Iyslah's mother Ruby Saenz, Isabella's mother Kandra Flores, their grandmother Diana Flores, grandfather Commissioner Joe M. Flores, and aunts Claudia Flores and Luisa Ruiz.
