3

Commissioners’ Court approved a resolution honoring David Chanava, resident of Edinburg, for his contributions to the City of Edinburg and the All-America City Edinburg 10K Run/Walk. For the past 30 years David Chavana's passion in life has been running. He began the exercise as a way to get healthy and lose weight, however it quickly turned into something much more. Mr. Chavana has competed in over 408 races and ran thousands of miles in events held throughout the United States. One of his greatest accomplishments is being the Director and Co-Founder of the Annual Edinburg All-America City 10K Run/Walk. The court recognized Mr. Chavana for his tireless dedication to Hidalgo County and its citizens. Mr. Chavana stated that he hopes when others look back on his life they can say, "David Chavana had passion." Chavana was joined by his family members, Aunt Lydia Chavana, Cousin Homero Vasquez, Niece Clarissa Palacios, and son Noah and Grandson Trey. Also in attendance were members of the Edinburg 10k Board, as well as former Board Member and 92nd District Judge Ricardo Rodriguez, who spoke highly of Chavana’s commitment and dedication. Precinct 4 Commissioner Joseph Palacios chimed in, noting appreciation for his former Coach and thanking him for his lifetime of service.
