Hidalgo County Judge Ramon Garcia and members of the Hidalgo County Drainage Advisory Committee will be presenting in McAllen, Weslaco, and Donna this coming week (September 18, 19, and 20) to educate and inform leaders and residents about the critical and urgent need to improve and upgrade the County’s drainage system.

On Tuesday, August 14, 2012, the Hidalgo County Drainage District #1 Board of Directors/Hidalgo County Commissioners’ Court approved an order and resolution calling for a bond election in November to fund approximately $184 million in drainage improvement projects, including a portion of the Raymondville Drain, the Delta Area Watershed Project, and drainage improvements in rural areas, among others. Judge Garcia, along with Drainage District Manager Godfrey Garza, will be outlining the need for the proposed drainage projects, which will help to move water out of the County more efficiently and alleviate flooding conditions in parts of the County.
