County departments met earlier this week to discuss proposed issues for the upcoming 83rd Legislative Session. Rick Alvarez of the County Judge's Office discussed legislative updates and deadlines, asking department heads to assist him in highlighting areas of concern which could possibly be addressed through the legislature. Last year, a total of 5,796 bills were introduced in both the House and Senate, of those, only 1,379 were passed. Hidalgo County hopes to work closely with local and state legislators this legislative session to address key issues affecting the county.
