Hidalgo County joined several local, state, and national emergency responders at a conference this morning to discuss hurricane and disaster preparedness. The focus of the conference was to ensure that both the public and responding entities are aware of what steps to take during a disaster, evacuation plans and procedures, among other information.
Today, June 1st, marks the official start of hurricane season, which ends on November 30th. Hidalgo County EMC Oscar Montoya spoke to the audience about the importance of individual preparedness and urged everyone to have a plan in place for their families, business, etc. In anticipation of the 2012 Hurricane Season, Hidalgo County will host its 3rd Annual Dare to Prepare Disaster Fairs, in conjunction with the Texas A&M Colonias Program.
