The Hidalgo County Courthouse Master Plan Committee held a public meeting on Thursday evening in Precinct 3, and will host three more public meetings next week in Precincts 1, 2, and 4. These public meetings, “A Special Evening of History and Vision,” will be an opportunity for Hidalgo County residents to offer their input on the committee’s findings and recommendations that will guide the development of a proposed new County Courthouse.
Appointed by Hidalgo County Commissioners’ Court last year, the committee was tasked with a directive to identify and address the spatial and functional needs of the current facility and develop to ensure the County is prepared to accommodate projected growth for the future.
“We want to emphasize to the public the need for a new Courthouse,” said County Judge Ramon Garcia. “Together, with the committee’s guidance and the public’s input, our County leadership can work towards being able to finance this project within our means and not have to burden our taxpayer,” Garcia continued.
These meetings are a chance for residents to be a part of history and contribute to a vision for the future of the Hidalgo County Courthouse. Refreshments will be provided. All media and the public are encouraged to attend. For more information, please see attached flyer.
