[ARCHIVED] Energy Efficiency 101: Students Tour Pct. 2

Students from Ms. Sugalan's, Mr. Mercado's, and Mr. Luna's 6th grade science class at Kennedy Middle School, were led on a tour of the Precinct 2 Multi-Purpose Facility by Manny Casas this morning. They are learning about energy resources and conservation in the classroom and were able to apply their knowledge about wind turbine energy, insulation, and solar panels while touring the Precinct 2 Multi-Purpose Facility.

While taking the tour, students learned about the many ways the Pct.2 Multi-Purpose Facility is saving the county money, due to its energy efficiency and incorporation of green building components during its construction. Hidalgo County Infrastructure Systems Manager, Rick Sunday, gave students a presentation over LED lighting vs. conventional lighting as well as provided them with ways in which they could conserve energy at home.
