Hidalgo County Commissioner’s Court is committed to improving the health and well-being of all county employees. The County has partnered with Personalized Prevention, a wellness provider, that administers on-site wellness and health promotion services to county employees. The Department of Budget & Management, along with Personalized Prevention, introduced the program: Be Active. Be Healthy. Be Happy.
The program kicked off on Saturday, April 14 at Precinct 2's North San Juan Park. For this year’s first event, county employees, covered under the county’s group health plan, were invited to participate in an 8-Week Weight Loss Challenge that focuses on one workout at a time, one day at a time and one meal at a time. Employees who attended the kickoff took part in low pace fitness activities and were eligible to enter into a raffle. A total of 10 prizes were awarded, including gift cards and fitness backpacks. The first 100 participants completing the activities as required also received a drawstring bag which included assorted health and wellness gifts.
Personalized Prevention invited fitness vendors who presented weight loss challenge tips and a nutritional instructor who educated and challenged participants to modify lifestyle eating habits. We encourage those of you who registered to partake in this challenge to remain motivated and continue viewing weekly resources on the website provided which will assist you through the duration of this challenge. Don’t forget to log in your weight weekly! At the end of the challenge, we will be sending out the weigh out schedule and information regarding the challenge winners.
