Elections Department Executive Director Yvonne Ramon said several school districts and cities will also hold elections during the Nov. 8 General Election, including the cities of Edcouch, Palmview, Penitas and Weslaco; school districts in Edcouch Elsa, Edinburg, Hidalgo, Lay Joya, La Villa, Mercedes, Monte Alto, Valley View, Weslaco, and PSJA; Emergency Services District #3; and on the creation of a Healthcare District in Hidalgo County.

All the information related to the Nov. 8 election is available on the county's Election Department website, Ramon said, including updated information on the voter ID law.

"The voter ID law has been extended for those who have had an impediment – some sort of difficulty in obtaining one of the original seven forms of ID. So, for those community members that are listening that do have one of the seven forms of ID, please be prepared to show ID when you go to the polls," Ramon said. "If you've not been able to obtain one of the seven forms of ID, don't let that keep you from going to the polls, because you will be able to show other forms of ID at the polling station."

The deadline to register to vote is October 11. Early voting runs October 24 through November 4.
