About 50 additional sewer connections in the Hoehen Subdivision in Precinct 4 were approved by Commissioners Court on Tues., Sept. 13.
The subdivision sits in a very low area, where rainwater naturally collects. The project to improve drainage and subsequent issues with residential septic tanks would not have been possible without the joint efforts of Hidalgo County, the Urban County Program, and McAllen Public Utility Board, said Precinct 4 Commissioner Joseph Palacios.
“This area has been one of the most severely affected by flooding,” Palacios said. “In the past, even one inch of rain has caused the community’s septic systems to back up and overflow. The work approved today will bring us one step closer to alleviating the issues for this community."
