The McAllen United Angels is a girls soccer team that competes year-round against top-level private clubs from the RGV, San Antonio and Houston.
So far, the United Angels have won eight championships, most recently becoming the 2016 U.S. Youth Soccer President's Cup girls age 14 State Champions in their first time going to a competitive state tournament.
This achievement has advanced the Angels to represent the State (with the South Texas Youth Soccer Association) at the 2016 REGION III President's Cup in College Station, Texas in a tournament held June 14-19. At the tournament, they will compete against teams from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Tennessee.
"I want to thank our players for their commitment to this soccer team. Not only have they excelled in soccer but academically as well," said Head Coach Abraham Adriano. "I would also like to thank our parents... They take our kids to practice and sometimes even soccer parties and games over the weekends."
Throughout the years, the team's goal has been to encourage personal growth, positive attitudes and strong leadership in all of the players. They are led by Adriano, as well as Assistant Coaches David Gonzalez and Mario Campos.
The team members are Leila Arriola, Zarahy Campos, Vivina Cruz, Kristina Godinez, Alexa Gonzalez, Cynthia Gutierrez, Georgina Hernandez, Mia Perez, Araceli Ramirez, Stephanie Ramirez, Leilani Sanchez, Andrea Santana, Kay-Lani Vazquez, and Ashley Segura.
Hidalgo County congratulates the McAllen United Angels U.S. Youth Girls Soccer team for their dedication and wishes them continued success.
