Commissioners honored Judge Rosa Treviño for 38 years of service, 24 of those years as Justice of the Peace for Pct. 2, Pl. 2, in Hidalgo County prior to retiring from the bench in 2014.

Judge Treviño began her career with the county in 1975 as a juvenile probation officer and by 1982 was court coordinator for the 93rd District Court. In 1989, she made the decision to run for the Justice of the Peace, Pct. 2, Pl. 2 and won the election in a runoff.

Serving six consecutive terms before retiring from the bench, Judge Treviño credits her success to the hard work, passion and the unconditional support of her late husband Eloy Treviño.

"I attribute my success to him," she said of her late husband. "He left me with my wonderful children and my passion to serve the community."

In the future, Judge Treviño plans to continue serving the community in other capacities and looks forward to spending more time with her family, including her six children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Upon receiving the resolution, Judge Treviño thanked Commissioners for their support throughout her tenure and was grateful for serving the community for so many years. Judge Treviño was accompanied by three of her children, Dr. Lisa Treviño, Eloy Treviño Jr. and Nidia Treviño.

Hidalgo County Commissioners Court recognizes and honors Judge Treviño for her outstanding service, dedication and commitment to the citizens of Hidalgo County.
