There could only be one winner for the 2014 Total Knockout Challenge. The friendly competition pitted the four county precincts against each other as they fought to be crowned the Total Knockout champ. The challenge was created as part of the HidalGO FIT Wellness Program and was organized by the Health and Human Services staff. The goal was to educate county employees about their health options to develop healthier habits.
Each week in June, the health department parked its mobile unit at each precinct to conduct health assessments and to provide health education to county employees. A total of 157 employees took part in the evaluations which included patient registration and history, height, weight, body mass index, and body fat analysis.
After tallying up all the totals, Precinct 1 came out on top and was crowned as the 2014 Total Knockout Challenge Champ! Precinct 1 had the highest turn out with 53 employees participating in the challenge. Precinct 4 came in 2nd place with 43 employees, Precinct 3 came in 3rd with 33 and Precinct 2 came in 4th with 28 participating employees.
Public Health Technician Brenda Salazar presented Pct. 1 Commissioner A.C. Cuellar Jr. with the trophy, a Knockout Challenge wrestling belt. Commissioner Cuellar applauded his staff for their participation in the program and for their continued effort to improve their health.
We want to congratulate Precinct 1 and everyone who participated and took time to learn about their health.
