Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office and Hidalgo County Crimestoppers hosted its 10th Annual National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Sunrise Park in Mercedes. The fun-filled, family event provided free food, games and giveaways to Hidalgo County Precinct 1 residents.

Hidalgo County Sheriff Eddie Guerra and Precinct 1 Commissioner A.C. Cuellar, Jr., were present to meet and great county residents. They also assisted in handing out door prizes to lucky winners at the event.

Local agencies set up booths to provide residents with information regarding different services in their area. Residents had the opportunity to interact with law enforcement officers, local government entities, health providers and local businesses.

Residents also enjoyed the musical talent from La Pandilla Nortena, Fuga Nortena, Midnight Run, Texas Legend and Mariachi “Los Galleros.”

The next National Night Out will be Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at St. Anne's Church (17109 Coconut Palm Dr. Penitas) from 5:30 to 9 pm. Hidalgo County encourages all residents to attend and take part in the free food and beverages that will be provided. There will be plenty of entertainment including moon jumps, a drinking booth, zumba performances and clowns. Residents will also have a chance to win great door prizes. Come and be a part of National Night Out!
