Hidalgo County Commissioners Court unanimously approved a resolution in honor of Mrs. Maria Luisa Daniel for her continued commitment and outstanding work to the patients of the Hidalgo County Mercedes WIC Clinic for the last 37 years. Mrs. Daniel was born on October 15, 1954 to the late Juan T. Urbina and Consuelo C. Urbina. In February of 1979, she joined the Hidalgo County WIC Clinic in Mercedes, Texas as a WIC Clerk and when the use of computers was implemented she was promoted to Computer Clerk. Mrs. Daniel will be retiring after 37 years of employment with the Hidalgo County Mercedes WIC Clinic and through her job she developed many true friendships with the patients of the City of Mercedes. Mrs. Daniel truly enjoyed her job due to the leadership of Hidalgo County WIC Director Norma Longoria and Supervisor Dora Trevino, who instilled confidence and compassion. Upon entering retirement, Mrs. Daniel has plans of traveling and taking a long overdue family vacation with her two sons, Frank Trevino and Jason Anthony Cantu.
Upon receiving the resolution, Mrs. Daniel thanked Commissioners Court for the honor and expressed how she will miss her WIC family. Mrs. Longoria shared the same sentiment by also expressing how Mrs. Daniel will be thoroughly missed.
Mrs. Daniel was joined by her sisters; Alicia Urbina, Marie Brown, Terry Sanchez, Maria Azoca, and Janie Trevino. She was also joined by her immediate supervisor Dora Trevino and co-worker Clarissa Ramirez.
Hidalgo County Commissioners Court wishes Mrs. Daniel a long, healthy, and productive retirement.
