Furthermore, the office serves to facilitate effective, timely, and accurate communication and to coordinate and advance the County's community outreach, policy, and intergovernmental efforts in the local, state, and federal arenas.

The Public Affairs Division oversees the following functions:
  • communications;
  • press relations;
  • multimedia;
  • website and social media initiatives;
  • and internal relations and organizational effectiveness.
The team produces Public Service Announcements for radio and television, ads and articles for print, and content for the web. We advocate for equal communication accessibility and provide issue management for the County. We serve as a liaison from the county to the public in organized forums, and increasingly, our role is to educate our residents so that they can understand and participate in county government. We are involved in all aspects of county government.
In times of crisis, the team drives the county's public response, working closely with Emergency Management staff and other government and non-profit agencies and especially with the media to provide up-to-date, crucial information.
