The Hidalgo County Fire Marshal's Office is doing everything within their power to help keep our daily office operations working. The Hidalgo County Fire Marshal's Office is taking all measures possible to reduce the likelihood of exposure to COVID-19. Recognizing the need to ensure the health and safety of clients, visitors, our staff and other individuals entering the building, the Hidalgo County Fire Marshal's Office has implemented this process. 

Please call our office in advance at (956) 318-2656, if you need to obtain a burn permit, copy of a report, copy of a building inspection report, etc. All reviews for building plans or for fire inspection renewals will be set up by our office with a courtesy call to the applicant/business to set up a scheduled appointment. 

HOURS: Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Overview


The Fire Marshal’s Office is responsible for:
  • Enforcing the International Fire Code
  • Working jointly with the County’s planning department to review plans for structures in rural areas
  • Issuing burn permits, enforcement of burn bans, and the investigation of arson

Mission Statement

The mission of the Hidalgo County Fire Marshal’s Office is to prevent and/or reduce the incidence of fire through effective fire prevention, public education, compliance inspections and fire investigations. We will strive to effectively and efficiently utilize all resources made available, to provide safety and excellent customer service to the citizens of Hidalgo County.
