Overview
Hidalgo County Emergency Management has a very important job in keeping the public well-informed and safe. HCOEM has the responsibility of:
- Maintaining the County’s emergency plans and annexes
- Educating the public about emergency preparedness through speaking engagements, public service announcements, printed materials and through the media
- Responding to disasters, including flood events, hurricanes, fires and other natural or man-made catastrophes
- Maintaining the Special Needs Population roster
- Assisting Home Health Agencies and Adult Day-Care Facilities with their emergency response plans
- Receiving and maintaining the SARA Tier II reports for our response area
- Coordinating with our cohorts at the municipal level, our neighboring counties, and at the State level
