Welcome to the Department of Budget & Management!


This department facilitates an expanded role in the implementation of Commissioners Court initiatives, policies, procedures and resolutions.

DBM is composed of three functional divisions:
  • Budget Division
  • Strategic Planning Division
  • Employee Benefits Division
The Responsibilities of DBM include:
  • Provide financial information and guidance to Commissioners Court and County Judge
  • Evaluate, research, and analysis for use by the County departments to ensure efficiency and cost effectiveness
  • Provide guidance and advice to all County department managers, elected officials, and department heads on the financial conditions of their respective departments
  • Assist with special budgetary requests on a day-to-day basis
  • Facilitate, coordinate, monitor, and review the Commissioners Court weekly agenda for budgetary implications
  • Seek innovative approaches to keep workers’ compensation rates and insurance premiums at the lowest levels
  • Oversee the County’s Capital Improvement Program and Capital Budget and various other special projects
  • Monitor staffing levels and personnel-related spending
