Community Awareness Program (CAP)

On January 31, 2016, Hidalgo County Health & Human Services (HCHHS) will launch CAP! This program will allow for the public to have access to Inspection Report Scores of food establishments that are located within the Hidalgo County jurisdiction. These scores will be posted on the Hidalgo County Website, HCHHS-Environmental Health Webpage and on the HidalGO FIT Mobile Application.

The purpose of this program is to proactively safeguard the public health and to better assure that consumers are made aware of food that is safe, unadulterated, and presented with updated uniformed monitoring information of food establishments in the unincorporated areas of Hidalgo County, including areas in the extraterritorial jurisdiction of a municipality, or a municipality that does not have a health department.

Hidalgo County Health and Human Services – Environmental Division is authorized to enforce state and federal laws and rules adopted under state law concerning food service establishment, retail food stores, mobile food units, and roadside food vendors pursuant to Texas Health and Safety Code section 437.002(a), §437.00325, and Texas Administrative Code § 229.373.
