The 2018 South Texas All Hazards Conference: Texas Strong provides a forum to advance the hurricane preparedness capacity for the Rio Grande Valley, discuss current trends and topics, and provide information about the latest tools and technology in emergency preparedness management and homeland security. The conference is sponsored by Hidalgo County Health and Human Services Department, City of McAllen, Hidalgo County Emergency Management, and Texas Department of Emergency Management (TDEM) with funding provided by the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Tony Robinson, FEMA Region VI - Regional Administrator
Tony Robinson FEMA
Tony Robinson is responsible for the direction
and leadership of FEMA’s efforts in the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas and 68 federally-recognized Tribal Nations within this geographic area.Under Mr. Robinson’s leadership, the Region has awarded and managed over $1 billion in grant funding each fiscal year to assist Region 6 partners in building capabilities and recovering from disasters.
Chief Nim Kidd, TDEM
Chief Nim Kidd serves as the Chief of the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM). In this capacity, he is responsible for the state’s emergency preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation activities.

We are happy to welcome Jim "Mattress Mack" McInglave to Hidalgo County for the 2018 South Texas All Hazards Conference.  He is a businessman and philanthropist from Houston. Most recently he made headlines during Hurricane Harvey when he opened two Gallery furniture stores as shelter to those displaced by the storm. The furniture store also used their largest moving truck to rescue people displaced by the flooding.
Dr. John Hellerstedt
Dr. John Hellerstedt is the commissioner of the Texas Department of State Health Services. Dr. Hellerstedt, who last served the state as medical director for the Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program Division, left his position as chief medical officer at the Seton Family of Hospitals to join DSHS.

Maryanne Denner, MSCJ
dennerWith over 30 years of experience, Maryanne Denner is known nationwide as an authority on prison/street gangs/cartels. She is a former gang sergeant for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice-Institutional Division (prison
system) and has testified many times in court on prison gangs. She has assisted numerous jail administrators with gang identification within its inmate populations.
