About Us

Welcome to the Hidalgo County Environmental Compliance Division

The Hidalgo County Environmental Compliance Division’s purpose is to assist and coordinate with County activities for compliance with environmental protection regulations. Our work includes reviewing, inspecting plans and specifications of proposed land developments, construction sites, as well as commercial and residential developments to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations as well as planning and engineering codes.

Visitors to this website will find timely information on county, state, and federal rules and regulations such as the Hidalgo County Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Permit, Hidalgo County requirements for Storm Water Management Pollution Prevention Plans (SWMP3), and regulations by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

As part of our commitment to provide technical assistance and education to citizens, communities, and special interest groups, we hope this website offers helpful and engaging resources that explore various environmental issues. A variety of topics, news, and educational tools can be explored to inform, engage, and promote environmental awareness.

In addition, the Environmental Compliance Division is dedicated to researching "green" initiatives to support our natural resources.
